We are committed to the environment, using natural products and recycling to ensure proper use of diminishing natural resources.
With a focus on minimising energy use and water conservation most of our hotels have rain water harvesting facilities. Combined with initiatives such as flow restrictors in showers and recycled treated water for garden irrigation our aim is to reduce the pressures on locally available water sources.
All our hotels have Water Sewage Treatment Plants to convert waste water into a suitable source for irrigation. All harmful effluents are negated through the treatment plants thereby protecting the quality of the ground water of the area. This is particularly significant because many of our hotels are in areas of outstanding beauty and we make every effort to ensure they remain that way.
Our hotels in Shimla are surrounded by protected forests. Staff from our Shimla hotels regularly remove non bio-degradable materials so that the beauty of the forest and the plethora of fauna and flora that thrives within the sanctuary remains protected.
Our hotels Trident, Udaipur and The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur are situated in the city of lakes. Our employees in Udaipur organise an annual ‘Environment Week’ and take an active part in lake cleaning projects along with the local government and community. The teams also organise garbage collections for residents of the neighbouring villages.
All our hotels celebrate National holidays with tree plantation events. Working with organisations such as the University of Horticulture and Floriculture, we seek to protect and promote the genetic bank for threatened species. We hope this will benefit the wider community and inspire staff, guests and the local community to contribute to conservation of the environment.
